The rest of the programme is high voltage with John Storgårds bringing his special virtuosity to Sibelius’s symphonic portrait of a nation awakening to freedom.

We are pleased to announce that a NEW Line Dancing Group for BEGINNERS has been added to our Regular Activities on Wednesday’s, during Term time only. Time: 1.00pm-1.45 pm. Newcomers welcome. On Friday 12th. May, our members enjoyed a Fish & Chip Lunch, followed by entertainment by Julie A Scott from Liverpool. Julie’s repertoire included popular songs from the 1940’s to the 1990’s and a selection of songs from Last Night of The Proms. Many thanks to Patti who worked tirelessly and with such enthusiasm to arrange another successful event for our members.

I should like to pay credit to the enormous effort put into this event by David and Robin, who was Quizmaster. Patti and Keith gave essential support with refreshments. Although I didn’t participate, I was around during the event and can report that there was a great atmosphere of friendship and pleasure generated by the occasion which was attended by 12 teams of 4 from four Phoenix Clubs in the Stafford area. The members of the Longer Walking Group enjoyed a walk in the Coalport area yesterday. After the walk, everyone celebrated John’s special Birthday with chocolate cake.
