I should like to pay credit to the enormous effort put into this event by David and Robin, who was Quizmaster. Patti and Keith gave essential support with refreshments. Although I didn’t participate, I was around during the event and can report that there was a great atmosphere of friendship and pleasure generated by the occasion which was attended by 12 teams of 4 from four Phoenix Clubs in the Stafford area. Everyone knows the first four notes of Beethoven’s Fifth, but if that’s all you know, you’re in for an incredible surprise when Ben Gernon and the BBC Philharmonic set out on one of music’s greatest adventures. Complimenting this will be the smouldering passions and rapid-fire wit of Ravel’s G Major Piano Concerto played by Juan Pérez Floristán
